Is it Possible Today to Heal the Way Jesus did?

At the Christian Science Church we believe that spiritual healing is possible and that it’s happening today in our church and in other churches. All of us are studying Jesus life and healing. We want to learn how to heal as he did. Jesus said, “The works that I do, ye shall do also.”

        What’s the basis for healing? An understanding of God and yourself as His likeness.  We study the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy every day.  On Sundays, at the church service, we listen to passages from these two books read aloud.  We study the exact texts that will be read on Sunday during the week. This weekly collection of passages is called “the Lesson Sermon.” Studying the Lesson Sermon during the week gives us daily inspiration and opens us to the inspiration and healing power present during the Sunday service.

        Can kids heal?  Sure.  Many children, who are learning how to pray, heal themselves and family members.  In Sunday School, they learn more about the Bible.  Teachers focus on The Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer, and the Beatitudes.

        Can I bring my toddlers to the service?  We have a really nice Children’s Room with toys and books.  There is always someone to take care of the children during the services.

        Do you want to hear about the experiences of others who are healing through prayer?  You can listen to Christian Science Sentinel Radio programs every Sunday morning on 95.9 FM and 1370 AM at 8:00 am, listen to re-broadcasts online at sentinelradio.com, go to spirituality.com and read articles about healing, or look at past issues of The Christian Science Sentinel and Journal which have recorded healings going back over 100 years. The testimony meeting on Wednesdays at our church is also a good way to hear more about healings experiences.

        Do you have questions? There is a Reading Room at the church full of materials for study. Several days a week, a church member is on duty and will talk with you about different aspects of the healing work.  There is also a Christian Science Practitioner’s office in downtown Bloomington open most business hours during the week. The staff there spends part of their time everyday praying for people and practicing spiritual healing. They are happy to talk with you about learning to be a healer. There are also practitioners and teachers of Christian Science healing in most major cities in the US listed in the Christian Science Journal.

        Do you have to be a Christian Scientist to heal? NO.

        Do you have to understand more about God and yourself as His likeness to heal?  YES.
